Why Ayurvedic Massage Is Different

Ayurvedic massage differs from Western massage in both intention and approach.

A key difference is the use of warm, organic, medicinal herbal oils. In Ayurveda, oil is considered medicine. These oils are chosen for their therapeutic properties and are designed to deeply nourish the tissues, calm the nervous system, support circulation and elimination, and continue working in the body after the treatment ends.
